Butterworth Hospital offers a wide range of advanced medical, surgical and specialty care services that allow the urban campus in downtown Grand Rapids to serve as a major tertiary and quaternary referral center for West Michigan and beyond. These services include the only Regional Burn Center and Level I Trauma Center in West Michigan. Butterworth Hospital is a clinical leader in cardiovascular, cancer, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, neurosciences, trauma and emergency care services, among many others.

Corewell Health announced conceptual plans to expand the Butterworth Hospital campus with the addition of a new 621,000 square-foot facility that would increase access to care, including the construction of a new emergency department, 180 private beds and 12 to 16 operating rooms.

Scope of Work

The PGY2 residency program builds upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency training to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives for advanced practice areas. Residents who successfully complete PGY2 residency programs are prepared for advanced patient care or other specialized positions, and board certification in the advanced practice area, if available.

  • Provide safe and effective patient care services, while promoting safe and effective access to medication therapy.
  • Provide patient-centered care through interaction and facilitating effective communication with patients, caregivers, and stakeholders.
  • Participate in the identification and implementation of medication-related interventions for a patient population (population health management). Conduct practice advancement projects.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills that contribute to departmental and/or organizational excellence in the advancement of pharmacy services.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills that foster personal growth and professional engagement.
  • Provide effective medication and practice-related education.
  • Provide professional and practice-related training to meet learners' educational needs.
  • Complete all additional activities required and outlined by individual Pharmacy Residency Program
Qualifications
  • Required Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy. Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 residency.
  • Experience gained through completion of a PGY1 residency program. Required
  • LIC-Clinical Pharmacist - STATE_MI State of Michigan 90 Days required
  • LIC-Pharmacist Controlled Substance - STATE_MI State of Michigan 90 Days required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 180 Days required Or
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required Or
  • CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required
