General Machinist II



Precision Fusing and Sensors is actively hiring for a General Machinist II in Middletown, CT. This role requires experience in blueprint reading, part set up, program editing and in process inspection. The ideal candidate will have a background in setting up and operating CNC and manual machining, including milling, lathe, drill press, and hand screw machines. The General Machinist II will be working under the direction of the Group Leader or Supervisor with limited supervision, responsible for using a variety of machining equipment to perform simple machining operations at close tolerances.



Responsibilities



  • Perform simple machining operations, under close and exacting tolerances, using blueprints, schematics, written/verbal instructions, shop policies and quality standards.
  • Operate CNC machines to perform a simple series of machining operations on a diversified line of work.
  • Per instruction from group leader, adjust machine calibrations, console settings, feed, and tooling operation sequences.
  • Ability to understand rudimentary program formats to make minor adjustments to offsets and tooling.
  • Per instruction from group leader, make minor modifications to pre-programmed computer routines.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate various types of manual machining equipment such as, millers, lathes, drill presses and hand screw machines to perform simple and non-complex machining operations.
  • Assist in de-burring operations when required per shop schedule.
  • Perform machine maintenance and maintain a neat and orderly work area using established safety standards.
  • Must be OAP (Operator acceptance program) certified to inspect own work using various hand tools and measuring instruments to maximize quality.
  • Inspect production work as often as necessary to maintain maximum quality.
  • Rejected or scrap work must be kept to a minimum.
  • Report defective material or any unusual circumstance to supervisor.
  • Maintains workflow while balancing changing needs of the business. Communicates information to appropriate departments and individuals. Provides updates to management.
  • Implements Lean methodologies when developing project plans/layouts to achieve company goals in cost, throughput, productivity, quality, and delivery.
  • Ensures that work environment is clean, safe and that safety, health and environmental procedures and regulations are followed.
  • Provides a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contributes to positive teamwork environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Accomplishes related results as needed.



Qualifications



  • Minimum of 1 years related experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Use of elementary geometry, algebra and trigonometric principles together with the use of drawings, specifications, charts and tables.
  • Ability to use various types of precision measuring tools and instruments.
  • Familiarity with shop practices, inspection and safety.



Shift: 1st Shift Monday-Friday 6:30a-3:00p
