Supports daily food service operations by assisting with food preparation, customer service, and maintaining a clean and safe dining environment. Works closely with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal service and a positive customer experience. Key Responsibilities Assist cooks with meal preparation, including cutting, peeling, and slicing ingredients Prepare simple food items such as salads and desserts Plate and serve meals as directed by kitchen staff Take customer orders, accommodate special requests, and deliver food in a timely manner Provide excellent customer service, respond to questions, and address concerns promptly Maintain cleanliness of dining and service areas, including clearing tables and managing waste Wash dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment in accordance with sanitation standards Follow all food safety and hygiene guidelines to ensure food quality and prevent contamination Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of food service operations, including line set-up and temperature control standards Knowledge of food preparation methods, presentation techniques, and quality expectations Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions with attention to detail Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively Ability to understand and adhere to safety and sanitation procedures Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and use sanitation supplies Ability to lift, move, and handle heavy objects as required Basic knowledge of inventory control and ordering of supplies and equipment Skill in preparing and cooking a variety of food items in a fast-paced environment Qualifications Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Strong customer service and communication skills Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices preferred Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently Education Some High School Completed required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? yes Minimum Starting Pay: $17.71 Physical Requirements Standing Frequently (34-66%) Walking Frequently (34-66%) Lifting Occasionally (3-33%) Carrying Occasionally (3-33%) Reaching Occasionally (3-33%) Vision - Far Constantly (67-100%) Vision - Near Constantly (67-100%) Talking Constantly (67-100%) Hearing Constantly (67-100%) The General Hospital Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
