Function: The Retail Mortgage Business Analyst helps optimize the mortgage lending process, minimize risk and ensure compliance while aiming to improve the overall customer experience. Their work can have a significant impact on the profitability and success of a mortgage business. Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs, objectives, and challenges. Elicit, document, and analyze business requirements, processes, and workflows. Translate business requirements into clear and concise functional specifications for Retail Mortgage Operations department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of Retail Mortgage Operations processes, procedures, and/or policies.

    • Work with colleagues and senior management to gain an in-depth understanding of critical business requirements.

    • Develop innovative solutions for operational and strategic changes.

    • Work with senior management to ensure all parties are prepared/capable to implement solutions.

    • Analyze business models to deliver logical conclusions.

    • Assess company needs and come up with solutions for the Retail Mortgage Operations team.

  • Reconcile internal GL accounts and identify and report unusual balances, fluctuations, or divergence from accounting and retail mortgage related Corporate Policies.

  • Analyze general ledger account balances and provide direction to colleagues for as-needed corrections.

  • Act as a corporate liaison with process and control owners and selected department managers to ensure controls are properly designed, documented, and operating effectively.

  • Responsible for maintaining SOC compliance database as assigned.

  • Extensive practical knowledge and ability to analyze large data sets to identify efficiencies within the department.

  • Provide support to retail mortgage team as potential substitute in areas of need.

  • Identify and assess new potential products and programs and complete requests and administration of approved initiatives.

  • Order office supplies when needed

  • Responsible for Retail Mortgage Operations Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan

  • Responsible for Vendor Management for Retail Mortgage Operations department

  • Act as department notary when needed

  • Sort and distribute incoming mail and overnight deliveries

  • Upload closing packages to imageflow in MortgageBot

  • Contact Settlement Agents/Title Companies for funded loan closing packages

  • Maintain a good working relationship with bank employees in other departments.

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, as well as motivated to work as a team player to contribute to the success of the department and in turn, the organization.

  • Perform other responsibilities related to the retail mortgage lending process as necessary.

Education:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus specialized training or two-year degree.

Experience:

Two to five years general experience required, and two to five years specialized mortgage experience preferred.

Physical Demands:

Operates a keypad device: 70% of the day. Requires the use of manual dexterity skills for both typing and filing on frequent basis up to 70% of the business day. Must be able to focus visually at a close distance of 18"-20" for a period of up to 70% of the business day.
