Position Summary
The Outsource Receiving Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely intake, inspection, and routing of lens orders and materials received from external outsource laboratory partners. This role serves as a critical quality checkpoint, ensuring that all returned work meets Hoya's specifications and standards before advancing to the next stage of production. The Outsource Receiving Clerk plays a key role in maintaining order accuracy, production flow, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Responsibilities
* Receive and unpack incoming shipments of lenses and lens orders from outsource lab partners, verifying contents against packing slips, purchase orders, and lab management system records.
* Inspect returned lenses for visible defects including scratches, chips, coating irregularities, and other quality concerns; use a lensometer and other measuring instruments to verify optical specifications such as prescription power, cylinder, axis, and add power.
* Log all received orders into the lab management system (LMS), updating job statuses to reflect receipt and enabling real-time order tracking for internal teams and customers.
* Identify and document discrepancies including incorrect prescriptions, missing jobs, wrong coatings or materials, and damaged goods; initiate vendor communication for remakes, credits, or replacements as needed.
* Sort and route received lenses to the appropriate downstream departments (e.g., edging, finishing, quality control, or shipping) based on order priority, job type, and production scheduling requirements.
* Maintain an organized and clean receiving area; manage supplies and packaging materials to support efficient daily operations.
* Collaborate with production, quality, and customer service teams to resolve order issues and expedite time-sensitive jobs.
* Assist with periodic inventory counts of outsourced materials and maintain accurate inventory records.

Safety Requirements
* Basic understanding of the Injury and Illness Prevention Program and the Hazard Communication Program.
* Closed toe shoe required with heel support
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment may require P.P.E.
* Safety glasses and long sleeve shirts may be required where needed.
