Job Description
* Applications are accepted electronically ONLY at www.cu.edu/cu-careers *

The Office of Student Transitions and Family Engagement has three openings for lecturers in the First-Year-Experiences (FYE) Seminar program. The First-Year Seminar faculty member would be responsible for teaching a three-credit hour First-Year Seminar (FYS) core area course for the Fall 2026 semester. The focus of the CU Denver First-Year Experiences program is specially designed courses that provide a welcoming and supportive learning environment for our new degree-seeking students who are starting college for the first time in the fall semester. In any of the FYE courses they choose, first-year students acclimate to the rigors of college-level work, engage in the active social and intellectual life of our campus, work closely with faculty and peer leaders, and make close friends and study partners.

Courses in the First-Year Seminar (FYS) program offer a wide range of benefits to entering first-year students. They are content-based and taught by faculty dedicated to first-year student success. FYS faculty members integrate academic skills into their courses to help students become more successful in their academic career. FYS classes are limited to 22-26 students, which creates an environment for strong interaction between students and the professor, who also doubles as a mentor for their first semester of college. FYS courses also introduce students to and engage them in CU Denver's vast student resources. In addition to these benefits, FYS students experience higher overall satisfaction with their time at the university.
