About the Role

We're seeking an interim Wafer Fab Process Engineer to ensure continuity during an employee's temporary reassignment. In this position, you will drive continuous improvement on semiconductor device fabrication processes for GaAs wafers while supporting manufacturing teams to maintain or improve product yields. This role will include process development, new tool introductions, and supporting the transition of ideas from concept to high volume manufacturing while coordinating with a wide range of cross functional groups.

This position is anticipated to last approximately 8 months. At the end of this temporary role, the candidate may have further opportunities to continue employment with the company.

Functions:

  • Supports thetransition of new products from prototype to volume production utilizingDFSS and DFM.
  • Drivescontinuous improvement opportunities and maintains yield metrics utilizing widevariety of analytical techniques (such as SPC, DOE, Gauge R&R/MSA)
  • Supports manufacturing of released processes and products including generating BoMsand routes, documenting work instructions and support training of personnel.
  • Evaluates,procures, and qualifies new manufacturing equipment and materials.
  • Collaborates with the daily activities of engineering technicians.
  • Solves complex technical problems in a timely manner such that schedules (production or development) are maintained.
  • Develops a consensus among all appropriate groups before implementing new procedures.
Qualifications:
  • BS or higher degree in Engineering (Physics, Material, Optical, Electrical, Chemical and Mechanical) and exceptional industrial experience in closely related technologies.
  • Recent experience in semiconductor wafer fabrication. May include educational experience involving hands-on/lab work.
  • Experience working with wet chemistry and associated safety procedures
  • Familiarity with semiconductor device physics, thin film processes and materials science.
  • Technical understanding of semiconductor wafer fabrication processes, material interactions, micron-scale surface chemistry, dominant failure mechanisms and analytical techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to do failure and root cause analysis and find effective solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills allowing for effective communication in cross functional & multi-site teams.
  • Must be able to work in a cleanroom environment wearing cleanroom garments
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience in GaAs wafer process development, or related wafer fab experience
  • Master's degree in related field
  • Experience with mechanical drawings related to mask design, basic tool or fixture design.
  • Experience with new process or new tool introduction in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Excel, SQL and PowerBI
  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or Lean Manufacturing
  • Experience with dry etch processing including RIE and ICP
  • Experience with Physical Vapor Deposition

Starting salary level is based on qualifications:
  • Wafer Fab Process Control Engineer I: $83,000 - $95,000 annually
  • Wafer Fab Process Control Engineer II: $90,000 - $115,000 annually
