Job Title: Operations Specialist (NWS 00876)
North Wind Services is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. NWS has an established history of contributing to the success of their customer's mission. Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.
Successful candidates will be employees of NWS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly-motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by NWS, the employee will take day-to-day directions from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by NWS.
The Directors Office has an opening for an Operations Specialist within the Cyber Security Program to provide advanced administrative support. The successful candidate will assist with process documentation, coordination with other departments and process badge requests. With minimal supervision, the successful candidate will serve as a key point of contact for management, researchers, and external partners. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Program Leader.
Essential Duties
- Collaborate closely with program management to enhance CSP initiatives and support the Business Operations team in delivering secure, customer-centric solutions.
- Provide expert guidance, communication, and support to office staff members to ensure program-specific objectives are met.
- Manage CSP document process from beginning to end in support of LLNL, Livermore Field Office (LFO), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), and Department of Energy (DOE) requirements.
- Collaborate with the Business Operations team and program area in management and project meetings.
- Coordinate with colleagues, supervisors, and customers across organizational lines to achieve program goals.
- Make independent, informed decisions and exercise sound judgment in high-pressure or complex situations.
- Analyze operational challenges and develop innovative solutions to improve operational communication processes and outcomes.
- Work closely with the Business Operations Office Manager and the Business Operations team on CSP initiatives.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate effectively and present information clearly.
- Experience providing customer service and demonstrating strong interpersonal skills interacting with individuals of all levels.
- Experience maintaining forms, records, databases, and documents to support service operations.
- Demonstrated ability to research, gather, and summarize information for decision-making.
- Experience coordinating work activities, workflow and processes for service operations area.
- Ability to make decisions independently and exercise sound judgment in complex and ambiguous situations.
- Advanced proficiency in software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Teams, SharePoint, and Confluence.
- This position requires a valid California Driver's License.
Special Requirements
Pre-Placement Medical Exam: A job-related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

Anticipated Government Clearance Level: Q (position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
