Responsibilities: Demonstrate foundational knowledge of government and public sector environments, including regulatory frameworks, compliance requirements, and risk management terminology Support and maintain process-level relationships with client stakeholders across federal, state, or local government agencies Perform testing of the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial, operational, and compliance processes Assist in developing test plans, risk assessments, and work programs for review by senior team members Conduct first-level reviews of staff work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and well-supported conclusions Prepare and maintain engagement status reports and supporting documentation for client delivery Contribute to the drafting of client deliverables, including audit reports, risk assessments, and recommendations Collaborate with team members to identify control gaps and support remediation efforts Required Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of experience in government, public sector consulting, audit, internal audit, or risk/compliance-related roles Basic understanding of internal control frameworks and government regulations (e.g., COSO, GAO Yellow Book, NIST, OMB guidance) Proficiency in professional writing, spreadsheets, and presentation tools; exposure to data analytics tools is a plus Eligible to pursue relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA, CGFM) Ability to travel based on client needs and collaborate effectively in both in-person and virtual environments Strong verbal and written communication skills Effective time management and prioritization abilities Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a related discipline Experience supporting federal, state, or local government clients Ability to work under tight deadlines and take ownership of deliverables in a fast-paced consulting environment At RSM, we offer a competitive benefits and compensation package for all our people.We offer flexibility in your schedule, empowering you to balance life's demands, while also maintaining your ability to serve clients.Learn more about our total rewards at https://rsmus.com/careers/working-at-rsm/benefits. At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range. Compensation Range: $77,700 - $146,900 Individualsselected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
