Primary Function of Organizational Unit
North Carolina Cooperative Extension gives our residence easy access to the resources and expertise of NC State University and NC A&T State University. Through educational programs, publications, and events, Cooperative Extension field faculty deliver unbiased, research based information to North Carolina citizens.
Clinton serves as the county seat, and Sampson County is home to about 60,000 residents and 21,395 households. About one-quarter of the population is under the age of 18. The county sits in southeastern North Carolina between Raleigh and Wilmington, with convenient access to Interstate 40 and a short drive to Interstate 95. Duties and Responsibilities
The County Administrative Assistant serves as the primary administrative and fiscal support position for a Cooperative Extension office. This role provides direct support to the County Extension Director and staff while ensuring efficient office operations, sound financial management, and compliance with county, state, and university policies.

Financial and Budget Management
- Serve as budget manager overseeing multiple funding sources and accounts
- Monitor expenditures, track balances, and reconcile accounts
- Process invoices, purchase orders, reimbursements, and deposits
- Assist with grant administration and reporting
- Ensure compliance with all fiscal policies
- Utilize systems such as MUNIS, Tyler Technologies, and NC ALLIES
Administrative and Office Operations
- Provide office management and administrative leadership
- Maintain records in accordance with audit and retention requirements
- Manage office supplies and equipment
- Support meetings, programs, and events
- Prepare reports, correspondence, and educational materials
Support to Staff and Director
- Provide direct administrative support to the County Extension Director
- Assist with scheduling, reporting, and coordination
- Serve as point of contact for the public and partners
- Maintain confidentiality on personnel and financial matters
Other Work/Responsibilities
This position operates within North Carolina Cooperative Extension and supports programming in Agriculture, Natural Resources, 4-H, and Family and Consumer Sciences.

Minimum Experience/Education
Graduation from high school and two years of related experience; or graduation from a two-year secretarial science or business administration program and one year related experience
