The COSS Support Specialist is a member of the staff of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension ( NCCE). The Support Specialist's primary responsibility is to provide support to the Extension staff where assigned. The Support Specialist cooperates with colleagues in the NCCE and county leaders in performing assigned responsibilities. The performance of assigned responsibilities is governed by the philosophy, objectives. policies, and procedures of the NCCE.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit -North Carolina Cooperative Extension gives our residents easy access to the resources and expertise of NC State University and NC A&T State University. Through educational programs, publications, and events Cooperative Extension field faculty deliver unbiased, research-based information to North Carolina citizens.Brunswick County is a prosperous, vibrant, and forward-thinking coastal community that offers opportunities to enhance and sustain the highest quality of life for residents. Duties and Responsibilities
The County Support Specialist serves as the first point of contact for the public and volunteers, delivering professional, responsive, and welcoming customer service to all call-in and walk-in clientele. This position is expected to communicate clearly and effectively, provide accurate information, and ensure that every interaction reflects a commitment to service excellence.
*Public Engagement: Greet visitors via phone or in person
*Office Support: Work will require welcoming and registering participants, taking fees and writing receipts per policy, and preparing and distributing relevant information; maintains calendars for reservations of vehicles and training room.
*Provide administration support for the county Extension programs: Consumer and Commercial Horticulture,4-H, Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program, Restitution, Teen Court and Local Foods.
*Newsletter Coordination: Coordinate and distribute the monthly newsletter through ActiveCampaign, maintaining the contact database, and ensuring compliance with branding.
*Website Management: Mange and update the Brunswick County Cooperative Extension website.
*Press Releases: Edit and share press releases for Extension program areas.
*Social Media: Design and post social media content, ensuring compliance with branding guidelines and coordinating content with all program areas.
*Media Relations: Maintain and update a list of media outlets, researching to expand outreach and tracking deadlines, posting parameters, and contact information for each outlet.
*Post relevant news articles and press releases on the Brunswick County Cooperative Extension website.
*Back up support for the Extension Administrative Assistant.
*Assist in planning and coordinating the Master Gardener annual banquet, Voluntary Agricultural District annual dinner and 4-H Enrichment night.
*Slick Text Application: Coordinate training and usage of the "Slick Text" application for all program areas as needed.

Minimum Experience/Education
Graduation from high school and two years office assistance and secretarial experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

*Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.
*Skills in computer applications and software such as Microsoft Suites, Google Suites, Adobe, Canva, website management system, social media platforms, Internet Explorer, ActiveCampaign and must have the willingness to learn new relevant software programs as they become available/essential.
*Must be highly motivated and have strong organizational organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
*Ability to operate standard office equipment including printers, computers, projectors, laminators, photocopiers, etc.
