Primary Purpose:

The President of Corporate Banking - The Carolinas makes and services commercial loans within lending limits. They perform other customer service routines as required and manage a commercial loan portfolio. They may also make consumer loans and resident mortgages loans. In addition, they are responsible for providing day-to-day leadership, coaching, and development to their team to ensure goals are met.

Essential Responsibilities:



  • Develop new business for the Bank by calling on prospective commercial members.
  • Retain existing members through follow-up and by providing excellent service.
  • Interview applicants to develop information concerning their business, needs, desires, abilities and earnings to determine whether a loan may be an acceptable risk.
  • Obtain and analyze financial data and provide service on approved lines of credit, equipment financing loans, etc.
  • Draft necessary documents and agreements.
  • Conduct credit checks.
  • Make decisions on loans and terms within the lending limits or make recommendations to a superior lending officer.
  • Follow current loans to ensure complete conformity with terms and knowledge of developing trends.


  • Partner with other bankers, line of business leaders and product specialists to meet current and anticipated member needs and to grow the scope of existing relationships within the Corporate Banking portfolio.
  • Meet or exceed established revenue and balance sheet goals.
  • Manage a team of Corporate and Commercial Bankers and a portfolio of members to maximize revenues and profitability.


  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and development of the team to ensure goals are met.
  • Monitor team performance and deliver regular feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support team by offering guidance, escalation support and problem-solving expertise.
  • Lead team huddles and training sessions to enhance product knowledge and sales effectiveness.
  • Adheres to applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Required Skills & Competencies:



  • Previous lending experience or experience in loan operations or credit analysis.
  • Extensive knowledge of documentation and regulations.
  • Proven business development skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally.
  • Strong connections to and relationships with referral sources/center of influence in the market.


Desired Skills & Competencies:



  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance.
  • Previous management or supervisory experience.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Local market experience.


Physical Requirements:



  • Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word via email and verbally.
  • Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, use your arms and legs, and sit most of the time.
  • Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and preparing documentation.
  • Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
