Job Details:
Mercer Engineering Research Center (MERC), a research institute of Mercer University, provides high quality engineering, scientific, and technical support services to both government and private industry customers. The Senior Electronics and Aviation Technician will provide support to engineers in the areas of electrical, electronic, mechanical, or machining assembly, disassembly, repair, and maintenance under the supervision of the respective chief engineer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Estimates time and equipment required for completion of fabrication of electrical or electronic parts or tools from engineering drawings.

  • Fabricates electrical or electronic parts or tools from tooling or engineering drawings.

  • Supervises the fabrication and diagnostic activities of electrical or electronic technicians to be on schedule and within budget as determined by the Program Manager.

  • Performs diagnostic tests of electrical or electronic parts or assemblies.

  • Performs electrical or electronic functional assessments and makes recommendations to engineers.

  • Inspects electrical or electronic parts and assemblies for conformance to engineering drawings, parts lists, schematics, and electrical interconnect listings.

  • Prepares purchase requisitions.

  • Assembles, disassembles, repairs, and maintains mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems or subsystems.

  • Ensures familiarity with all MERC core capabilities and with current and potential customer base.

  • Complies with all Executive Director approved MERC-wide policies and procedures.

  • During all customer contacts, remains alert for any potential problems or opportunities that could possibly lead to additional business for any MERC core capability area.

  • Reports all perceived or identified MERC business opportunities to the Director of Acquisition Strategy through a Chief Engineer.

  • Performs other job-related DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES in related areas as assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • US Citizenship is required.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED and 15 years of directly related experience and technical certifications in the respective technical area.

    Final rank will be determined on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Specific DoD electronics or avionics repair experience.
