Currently recruiting a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) Intensive Care Unit for William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) located on Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. The Registered Nurse (RN) Intensive Care Unit provides direct nursing care to patients on the Intensive Care Unit at WBAMC. The work schedule is a rotational inpatient schedule;may include Panama or alternating shifts (e.G., 36/44 hours) based on ward mission, ensuring no more than 80 hours per pay period.

Job Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse (RN) Intensive Care Unit:
  • Provide care to all critically ill patients in all age groups.
  • In the absence of a physician, independently determine and implement proper emergency measures after identifying and interpreting life- threatening conditions and initiating life-saving measures in accordance with current ACLS protocols. Such measures include advance cardiopulmonary resuscitation and mixing and administering resuscitative drugs.
  • Perform various pulmonary ventilation treatments such as administration of oxygen and compressed air through various means.
  • Administer IV push medications as prescribed by the physician.
  • Observe, monitor and assess patients'condition, recognize, identify, interpret serious situations;and call the physician or take preplanned emergency measures when the physician is not immediately available.
  • Operate and monitor highly complex technical equipment such as hemodynamic monitoring devices, intra-aortic balloon pumps, etc.

Job Qualifications of the Registered Nurse (RN) Intensive Care Unit:
  • Active, unrestricted RN license (U.S. State or territory)
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, BSN, or Diploma)
  • English language proficiency and EMR competency
  • Operation Room Nurses shall have completed an operating room nursing course
  • Minimum of one year of full-time experience in the last year as an intensive care registered nurse having worked in any of the following critical care work areas: Surgical Intensive Care, Medical Intensive Care, or Coronary Care Unit.
  • Certified in BLS for Healthcare Providers and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
