The Wildfire Operations (WO) organization plays a critical role in supporting PG&E's stand that "Catastrophic Wildfires Shall Stop" and contains PG&E's wildfire prevention and wildfire response programs. WO supports the wildfire related needs of customers, first responders, and internal clients before, during, and after wildfires. There are three teams in the WO organization:

  • Safety and Infrastructure Protection team - utility first responders who provide fire prevention and asset protection services
  • Public Safety Specialist team - dedicated liaisons to our first responder community
  • Wildfire Prevention Program - develops internal standard to prevent PG&E caused, worksite ignitions

Position Summary

The Wildfire Operations program is seeking a creative, selfdriven Graphic Design/Communications Intern to strengthen the team's visual storytelling and communication. This intern will transform technical content into clear, compelling visual products that feature team activities, support situational awareness, reporting, planning, and stakeholder engagement.

This role is ideal for a student with a background in graphic design, multimedia communication, branding, UI/UX fundamentals, or related fields who enjoys designing clean, modern visuals with realworld impact.

PG&E isprovidingthe hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $24.52 to $35.37

Responsibilities

  • Design visually compelling infographics, onepagers, diagrams, and communication materials that support wildfire programs and initiatives.
  • Convert complex technical and operational data into clear, understandable visual formats for internal and external audiences.
  • Support the development of brandaligned templates, style guides, and layout standards for the Wildfire Operations team, consistent with PG&E branding standards.
  • Produce visual assets for presentations, dashboards, reports, and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to understand program needs and propose creative design solutions.
  • Maintain accuracy and version control across all created visual assets.
  • Assist with light multimedia tasks (e.g., icons, simple animations, photo editing) as needed.
  • Participate in PG&E Intern program activities
  • Travel may berequired; frequency depends on the assignment and is typically less than 25%.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree at an accredited University
  • Studentsmustbe continuingtheireducation towardstheirdegree during and/or aftertheinternship

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Digital Media, Multimedia Arts, or related field.
  • Proficiency with industrystandard tools such as:
    • Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop
    • Figma, Canva, or similar tools
  • Strong understanding of design principles, including layout, typography, color theory, and branding.
  • Ability to translate technical information into clean, intuitive graphics.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organization and timemanagement skills.
  • Familiarity with UI/UX principles or data visualization is a plus.
  • Interest in wildfire management, public safety, utilities, or environmental programs is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to utilize MS 365 software suite
  • Familiarity with SharePoint site management
