Position summary: Responsible for business development, financial success, strategic planning, growth, and managing staff for the Rail and Transit practice at the regional level.

Essential functions and responsibilities:



  • Coordinate strategic growth plan with office leaders and practice leaders
  • Develop win strategies for project opportunities
  • Develops and maintains senior and executive level client relationships.
  • Participate in office's project financial status meetings.
  • Assist Section Heads, Office Leaders, and Practice Leaders with the marketing process including, SMART Go/No Go decisions, proposal development, interviews, and developing a win strategy.
  • Establish and grow market presence in area through marketing and business development
  • Manage financial budget for practice and allocate resources accordingly
  • Lead and contribute to the production of proposals
  • Serve as a technical expertise resource to project managers and technical staff
  • Establish resources staffing needs for the practice on a regional level
  • Interview and make recommendations for hiring staff for the practice
  • Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of team.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field
  • 15+ years' experience in specialized discipline including supervisory, project management, and business development
  • Demonstrated experience leading others
  • Project management and business development experience
  • Experience working with local clients at the state, county, and major municipality level


Qualifications preferred:



  • Master's degree in specialty field

Working Conditions:

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Travel to offices in the region at some frequency will be required to meet with clients, office leadership and staff where targeted clients reside.
