| Position Description: |
Visiting Assistant Professor of Modern European History The Department of History at the University of Iowa has an opening for 2026-27 academic year for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor in Modern European history, with the exception of Russia. The successful candidate will offer four courses each semester (fall 2026 & spring 2027), including primarily introductory/general education undergraduate courses. Preference will go to candidates who are prepared to teach a broad range of courses and whose teaching interests include transnational approaches to Modern Europe, in addition to nation-based courses (Britain, France, Germany, etc). This is a one-year, non-tenure track position, with possibility of renewal up to three years.The selected candidate must have the Ph.D. in hand by August 15, 2026.
