Duncan Aviation's Corporate Apprentice Program seeks to:



  • Provide high-potential, four-year bachelor or professional degree candidates with knowledge of Duncan's major functions and departments as well as our products and services.
  • Maximize the Apprentice's exposure to internal and external customers.
  • Provide the Apprentice with learning opportunities to develop and apply critical and strategic thinking skills in various business settings.
  • Positively impact productivity, profitability, and future growth of Duncan Aviation.
  • Strengthen Duncan Aviation's competitive edge.
  • Serve as a strategic investment in the next generation of Duncan leadership.



Essential Job Functions



  1. Apprentices will be given the opportunity to gain accelerated business experience, develop a solid understanding of the business aviation industry, and enhance their interpersonal and leadership skills. The program will build on the Apprentice's education and technical knowledge and will provide a balance of technical and business learning opportunities in both hands-on and classroom settings. The apprenticeship will include opportunities in audit, team member services, production areas, customer service, project management, sales, marketing, and other key business areas. Apprentice's will be exposed to regulatory issues, product-specific strategies, and customers.

  2. Link to Strategic Agenda, Key Issues and Workplace Realities: The Apprentice Program will be directly linked to the business environment in which Duncan Aviation operates and competes Action learning will be used-learning by doing and working on real work challenges and business issues. This action-learning approach increases the probability of impacting new technology, growth, marketing, strategy, quality, innovation, efficiency, and performance in a positive way.

  3. Follow-Through and Measurement:
    Apprentice development will be tied into existing HR processes, including development plans, performance reviews, and career planning.

    Development Plans for each specialized area will be created and will identify key learning goals.
    Follow-through by the Manager and the Apprentice is critical: completion of the development plan, monitoring and documenting learning, and following up with evaluation and assessment of the Apprentice's performance and development.

  4. Enhance Interaction & Access:
    The Apprentice program is meant to build relationships between the participants and colleagues at all levels across the company. They will learn who to call and where to go for answers or help in executing their plans.

Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Proficiency with MS Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Project, etc.) and other software systems required
  • The Apprentice will be able to demonstrate a broad and deep understanding of Duncan Aviation's business lines and exhibit tangible indicators of management potential for the company (i.e., sales position or project manager)
  • The Apprentice will identify a key function/area of the business and a career path that she/he is interested in pursuing.
