DUTIES:
The Light Rail operator will perform the following duties:
* Monitors console and radio communications to ensure that the vehicles are operating within established guidelines.
* Manually operates controls to open and close passengers' doors.
* Manually pushes the Proceed button, observing operating conditions and monitoring all lights, gauges, and equipment in the vehicle cab
* Makes announcements to passengers regarding arrivals, transfer points, delays, and emergencies, and responds to passenger questions.
* Maintains logs of work activities
* Uses a variety of communication equipment, including a public-address system, two-way radios, and emergency telephones.
* Manually throw track switches as required to establish a route for train movements when directed by the Light Rail Control Supervisor during emergencies, power outages, and switch or signal malfunction periods.
* Line work involving revenue includes pick-up, store, and change trains as required in the yard, online, or in terminal areas.
* Yard work includes make-up of trains, shifting (including coupling and uncoupling), running cars through the washer, and other related duties as required.
