Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Vice President, Government Relations to lead all congressional, executive branch, and strategic advocacy efforts in support of the company's growth objectives. This senior leader will serve as Peraton's primary interface with Capitol Hill defense committees, OSD, service secretariats, and key policy influencers - translating legislative and regulatory intelligence into actionable competitive advantage. The VP, GR reports directly to the CGO and is a core member of the Growth Leadership Team.

Key Responsibilities

Congressional Engagement

    Own relationships with HASC, SASC, HAC-D, and SAC-D members and professional staff
  • Lead NDAA strategy - monitor markups, shape authorization language, and brief internal stakeholders on implications for Peraton programs
  • Coordinate congressional visits, testimony preparation, and Hill outreach in alignment with Business Development and Capture priorities

Executive Branch Engagement

  • Maintain senior-level relationships across OSD, service secretariats, and key civilian agencies
  • Monitor and influence budget, policy, and acquisition decisions affecting Peraton's portfolio
  • Represent Peraton in executive branch forums and industry advisory groups

Strategic Advocacy & Third-Party Relations

  • Build and manage a network of think tanks, FFRDCs, policy influencers, and strategic advocates
  • Coordinate third-party voices in support of Peraton's positioning on key programs and policy issues
  • Manage relationships with trade associations and industry coalitions

Policy Intelligence & Internal Synchronization

  • Deliver timely legislative and regulatory intelligence to Business Development, Capture, and Marketing teams
  • Maintain a policy watch function covering defense authorization, appropriations, and acquisition reform
  • Ensure full LDA/HLOGA compliance across all government relations activities


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in government relations, congressional affairs, or executive branch engagement
  • Deep, established relationships on HASC, SASC, HAC-D, and/or SAC-D
  • Demonstrated experience navigating OSD and service secretariat environments
  • Expert knowledge of the NDAA authorization and appropriations process
  • Familiarity with LDA/HLOGA compliance requirements
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) required

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Hill staffer, political appointee, or senior agency official
  • Registered lobbyist experience
  • Established network within defense-focused think tanks and FFRDCs
  • Top Secret/SCI clearance

Target Salary Range

$190,000 - $304,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
