JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS The Food Science Department is seeking applicants for a part-time office assistant. Applicants must be reliable and able to follow simple directions and instructions. Job duties to include but not limited to: Greeting visitors at the front desk in the reception area Receiving and sorting mail/packages and contacting various labs/staff Answering the main office phone line Making copies as needed Stock the 2nd floor breakroom with supplies, make coffee as needed and keep room cleaned up Reorganize the 2nd floor stock room to make room for everything needed and get rid of unneeded items Compile a list of items on a weekly basis that should be ordered for the breakroom Assist with purchasing card reports in the Penn State SAP system (training to be provided) Assist with special events that take place in the Food Science Building Compile and put together recruitment items that are given out to New Student Orientations and Prospective Student Visits Other duties as assigned Office assistants can be Penn State students and must possess the ability to multitask and have excellent interpersonal skills. The Food Science Staff are in the building from 7 AM to 5 PM. Typical hours for this position would probably be 10 AM to 2 PM. Compensation: The starting rate for this job is $13/hour. The ability to foster a positive climate among a diverse group of staff, students, faculty, and visitors is essential. Applications will be kept on file and reviewed through the year.
