THE POSITION

The Department of Labor & Industry is eager to welcome a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist to oversee operations related to specialized programs in the Bureau of Central Operations (BCO) within the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR). In this crucial role, you will be responsible for providing statewide guidance, direction, technical assistance, training, outreach, and direct support to OVR staff, community rehabilitation providers (CRPs), and other stakeholders. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist, you will be responsible for program performance, program monitoring, as well as quality assurance activities in the administration of the OVR's quality management and technical assistance strategy. You will carry out activities that help ensure the agency consistently functions well and delivers high-quality services to customers, employers, providers, and stakeholders. Work also involves the development and delivery of case management monitoring and technical assistance services to district offices throughout the commonwealth. You will be expected to ensure consistent, fair, and equitable services are provided to customers and stakeholders across bureaus while adhering to all applicable federal and state regulations. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work closely with OVR leadership and district office leadership regarding compliance and monitoring activities, outcomes, and trends.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Alternate Work Schedule available.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: Most candidates start at the beginning of the advertised salary. Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $67,736.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of professional experience in rehabilitation work, vocational guidance, employment counseling or placement, psychology, or social work, two years of which must have been in the field of vocational rehabilitation; and a bachelor's degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training. Graduate study in the behavioral sciences may be substituted for the required general experience on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of one year.
