As part of the Verizon Consumer Group (VCG) AI and Strategy organization, the Distribution Strategy Analytics team delivers data models, insights, and guidance that Verizon business leaders use to determine the distribution strategy and understand outcomes. As a Principal Data Scientist, you will enhance and develop new geospatial data products, BI reports, machine learning models, and Agentic AI experiences that are required to shape VCG's distribution and placement strategy of where and how Verizon shows up in the physical world.

You will work within a true big data environment, solving complex technical problems alongside other subject-matter specialists. You will partner with various teams to drive decisions related to Verizon's distribution strategy, ensuring that quantitative analysis and empirical thinking guide the development of our strategy and the deployment of our retail footprint.

• Build and improve geospatial data products that will guide Verizon's distribution strategy

• Develop and engineer associated distribution machine learning models using standardized programming language (Python, SQL, R) into platforms of insight

• Develop algorithms to feed data insights regarding new distribution initiatives

• Manage and enhance automated decision systems that leverage varied data from cross-stakeholder teams within the Consumer organization

• Lead technical projects, organizing qualitative measurements, timelines, and addressing potential delays.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

You are a visionary data leader who thrives at the intersection of product ownership and advanced analytics. You don't just build models; you build solutions that solve "the big picture." You are a self-driven communicator who can translate complex data into a compelling narrative for stakeholders, managing high-priority timelines with precision and minimal oversight.

You'll need to have:

• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.Six or more years of relevant work experience.

• Experience in Information Systems, Analytics/Business Intelligence, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or in a related field.

• Proficiency with Machine Learning Modeling (Regression, Category Boosting, etc.)

• Experience building Agentic AI Workflows and LLM-based tools to support business operations

• Experience using Python libraries (Pandas, GeoPandas, Plotly, Shapely, Sklearn etc.)

• Technical fluency in SQL (Teradata, SQL Server) and Cloud/BI platforms (GCP, Looker, Tableau).

• Experience delivering reports and analyses that directly influence strategy.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• A degree. Preferably an MBA or an M.S. in a relevant field.

• Deep expertise in Geospatial Analytics and hands-on experience with GIS software (ArcGIS Pro or QGIS).

• Domain experience in retail distribution or the wireless/telecom industry.

• An innovation-first mindset with the ability to build new products from the ground up in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience in management consulting or high-level corporate strategy development.

• Strong executive presentation skills, with the ability to build consensus across fragmented stakeholder groups.

• Advanced problem-solving skills, particularly in identifying and resolving complex data discrepancies.
