The Senior Analyst, Growth Strategy helps drive AES Clean Energy's growth by identifying high-value opportunities and translating complex regulatory, technical, and market signals into clear, actionable investment decisions. Sitting at the intersection of market intelligence, project diligence, and strategy, this role plays a key part in shaping the company's development pipeline.

This role supports the development of bespoke project origination strategies and advances high-value project opportunities across solar, storage, and powered land, including complex and infrastructure-constrained opportunities. Working cross-functionally across Interconnection, Transmission Strategy, Land Acquisition, Policy/Reg, Development, and Commercial teams, the Senior Analyst evaluates opportunities, supports M&A efforts, and develops market intelligence to inform market growth plans. The role also drives strategic initiatives that enhance pipeline quality and strengthen long-term market positioning.

The ideal candidate is highly analytical and proactive, with the ability to connect data, policy trends, and infrastructure insights to real-world development outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support development of bespoke project origination approaches that create differentiated competitive advantage

  • Evaluate greenfield development opportunities at the site level, assessing feasibility across land, transmission access, interconnection position, permitting pathway, offtake potential, and market fit; lead cross-functional diligence and synthesize insights to support go/no-go decisions

  • Support M&A analysis, including target evaluation, interconnection queue analysis, and strategic fit assessments under the direction of a Sr. Manager.

  • Analyze U.S. power markets-including ISO/RTO structures, policy developments, and interconnection trends-to identify and prioritize opportunities, assess impacts on project siting, economics, and development timelines, and translate findings into actionable business insights

  • Prepare regulatory briefs, impact assessments, and position summaries to support engagement with market operators, regulators, and industry working groups

  • Leverage GIS tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, Google Earth) to visualize project opportunities, transmission infrastructure, interconnection queues, project pipelines, and key market trends

  • Develop presentation materials and decision-support tools to communicate strategic insights to leadership

  • Contribute to strategic initiatives that enhance pipeline quality, M&A targeting, and forward origination efforts

  • Maintain and improve internal tools, documentation, and planning resources to support coordinated growth efforts

  • Support diligence for inbound opportunities and ad hoc strategic analyses for senior leadership

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical ability with experience interpreting market rules, regulatory filings, or technical documentation

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Economics, Engineering, Public Policy, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MPA, MS) a plus but not required.

Work Experience

  • 2-5 years of experience in power project development, origination, regulatory and policy analysis, or analytical market research

  • Preferred experience in energy, regulatory and policy analysis, or infrastructure development

  • Exposure to ISO/RTO markets, interconnection processes, data centers, or energy policy/regulatory environments is preferred.

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; strong modeling and presentation capabilities.

  • Proficient in GIS tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, Google Earth); experience using geospatial data in decision-making.

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.

  • Ability to turn research and data into actionable business recommendations.

  • Strong understanding (or ability to quickly learn) power market structures, regulatory frameworks, and infrastructure constraints

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities independently.

Licenses and Certifications

  • None required; certifications in GIS, data analytics, energy policy, strategy, or financial modeling are a plus.

Training

  • Onboarding provided upon hire; Ongoing development opportunities available based on business needs and employee interests.

Physical Demands

  • Primarily desk-based work with standard computer use; Occasional travel for offsite meetings or conferences.

The total compensation package for this position also includes annual bonus.
