JOB SUMMARY The Engineering Intern will be an engineering student looking to gain exposure to a high volume, fast-paced injection molding, and high-speed assembly environment. In this role, the intern will work with engineers across many departments to solve systemic problems, and implement continuous improvement initiatives, while gaining practical manufacturing experience. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES Perform root cause analysis of systemic issues and collaboration with engineers for possible solutions Support operations in lean/continuous improvement planning and activities (5S, Kaizen Events, etc.) Design and implement solutions to improve efficiency and/or reduce scrap Assist Process Engineers with mold change overs and injection molding machine set-ups Implement / lead projects dealing with changes, repair, maintenance, or improvement of processes or procedures (Standard Operating Procedures, One Point Lessons, etc.) Collect and present data on various issues across the manufacturing facility (QRQC) REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS Quick learner and able to work in a fast-paced work environment Must be able to work effectively on teams and independently Creativity in problem-solving Strong skills in managing multiple tasks/projects effectively Superior communication skills Must be currently enrolled and working towards a degree in engineering, or other relevant field of study Must be able to lift/ carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to push/ pull up to 80 lbs., with the use of a pallet jack Must be able to stand, walk, and maneuver on a concrete manufacturing floor for up to 12 hours STUDENT BENEFITS You will develop an understanding of a plastic injection molding manufacturing environment.
