Job Responsibilities:

Along with the Senior Director, the Director is responsible for the conceptualization, planning, implementation, and coordination of the Healthcare Epidemiology and Infection Control (HEIC) Departments and activities across the health system. The Director, HEIC reports to the Senior Director, HEIC and is also accountable to the Executive Leadership of each JHHS entity. The Director, HEIC is responsible for assisting the Senior Director with oversight of JHHS HEIC departmental activities including budgeting and supervision of the core JHHS HEIC personnel. He/She works closely with the Senior Director, HEIC to plan and implement the operations of the HEIC Departments and personnel throughout the health system as well as planning coordinating and advising executive leadership on the overall development of the infection control programs and allocation of resources among departmental operations. The Director, HEIC advises the Senior Director, HEIC and JHHS executive leaders on healthcare epidemiology and infection prevention matters and coordinates and leads investigations into healthcare-associated infections, outbreak investigations, and infection prevention policy development. The position requires strong supervisory and collaborative leadership skills as well as an advanced knowledge of healthcare epidemiology, microbiology, cleaning and disinfection, healthcare-associated infections, infection prevention regulatory requirements, evidence-based infection prevention measures and the practice of these principles in the healthcare setting.

Qualifications:



  • A Masters of Science degree in a field pertinent to infection control/hospital epidemiology is required. Clinical education and experience in nursing or microbiology with specialized training and experience in healthcare epidemiology and infection prevention is preferred.
  • 7 - 10 years of progressively responsible related experience including 3-5 years (recent) management level experience in epidemiological/Infection control in a hospital setting. Expertise in database management and data analysis using computers is desirable.
  • Certification in Infection Control required.


Salary Range: $150,000 - $187,000 per year. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
