Advanced Practice Practitioner Relief

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Relief at Behavioral Health Unit Crisis Center (BHUC) a 24/7 facility providing timely access to mental health services for children, adolescents and adults presenting in a mental health crisis. The program is designed for those who need urgent behavioral health or substance use treatment. Assesses patients, interprets diagnostic test/results, and develops and implements treatments to address the patient's needs. Working in collaboration with physician(s) and working in a relief (PRN employed) capacity as needed (or predetermined schedule) often times with minimal supervision.

Essential Job Function

  • Performs physical assessments of the patient, reviews their medical history, and interprets diagnostic tests/results in order to provide effective treatment for the patient.
  • Conducts preventive health screenings based on the patient's age, history, and unique needs to provide proactive health care.
  • Educates patients and their family about medical conditions, treatment, and follow-up.
  • Maintains record of all patient care in order to ensure accurate patient history.
  • Performs medical procedures in accordance with departmental guidelines and clinical roles.
  • Identifies ways to improve patient care by assessing, problem-solving, and evaluating clinical and system issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Required: Master's degree Nursing, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Physician Assistant or PA-C.

Experience

  • Preferred: 1-3 years as advanced practice provider.

Licensure/Certification/Listing

  • Required: Valid NC RN and NP or PA-C.
