Plans, directs, and leads overnight stocking operations to ensure efficient execution of freight flow, accurate product placement, and adherence to Meijer stocking and safety standards. Serves as a mentor and coach to overnight team members by providing clear direction, ongoing feedback, and performance accountability. Partners with store leadership to develop nightly plans that support in-stock goals, inventory accuracy, and store readiness for the next business day. Maintains a clean, organized, and safe backroom and sales floor environment, ensuring product presentation and conditioning standards are met to support a strong customer experience during store opening hours.
What You'll be Doing:
- Leads and supports overnight stocking team members to ensure efficient execution of freight flow, accurate product placement, and completion of nightly stocking plans in accordance with Meijer standards.
- Ensures a positive Meijer culture by fostering respectful, professional, and supportive interactions with team members and overnight partners.
- Responsible for staffing needs for the overnight stocking team, including selection, hiring, onboarding, and scheduling to support business demands.
- Promotes succession planning by identifying development opportunities, coaching highpotential team members, and supporting internal advancement decisions.
- Provides ongoing performance feedback, documents corrective actions as needed, and partners with leadership and HR on disciplinary actions and employment decisions.
- Supports business results by maintaining inventory accuracy, minimizing shrink, and executing processes that support overall store financial performance.
- Models and reinforces Meijer service values by ensuring the store is clean, organized, safe, and customerready for opening hours.
- Communicates expectations, priorities, and company initiatives clearly during overnight huddles and shifttoshift handoffs.
- Mentors and coaches team members to meet productivity, safety, and quality standards while maintaining accountability for results.
- Ensures team members are properly trained, certified, and compliant with all required training, safety practices, and equipment usage.
- Maintains visibility on the sales floor and in the backroom throughout the overnight shift to support execution, resolve issues, and guide the team.
- Promotes and maintains a safe work environment by enforcing safety standards, addressing hazards, and modeling safe behaviors.
- Demonstrates reliable and consistent attendance to support overnight operational continuity.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support store operations.
What You Bring with You (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or its equivalent required.
- 2-3 years of related retail experience.
- One year of management experience.
- Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members in the organization in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and by addressing root cause issues.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions. Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling.
- Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times
- Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas of the organization including SDITs, team members in hourly positions and team leaders.
- Successful completion of all required certifications.
