As a bold contributor to the Nasher Museum team, you will drive meaningful engagement through program coordination, visitor service, and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

Program Support for Nasher Teen Council (35%)



  • Support recruitment efforts with local high schools to identify new Teen Council members.
  • Assist with application review and interviewing prospective members.
  • Assist with planning and facilitating Teen Council meetings and workshops that foster creativity and collaboration.
  • Support the teen-curated exhibition through research assistance and programming support.


Visitor Engagement & Service (35%)



  • Deliver professional, welcoming service and share information about exhibitions, events, and museum resources.
  • Provide inclusive support for all visitors, including those with special needs and VIP guests.
  • Maintain a polished, professional presence and contribute to a positive visitor and staff experience.
  • Support daily operations including desk maintenance, punctuality, communication, and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Promote museum memberships, events, programs, surveys, and community initiatives.
  • Participate in trainings, exhibition preparation, research activities, and support senior staff as needed.


Financial Processing & Reporting (30%)



  • Process invoices, billing, purchase orders, and departmental payments.
  • Maintain and update tracking spreadsheets monthly.
  • Respond to accounting inquiries and troubleshoot delays or payment issues.

Qualifications



  • Strong timemanagement skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent customer service and hospitality skills.
  • Experience working in an arts or cultural organization.
  • Data entry experience and familiarity with general accounting principles.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Completion of annual Minors Training and a Duke Background Check every 3 years.


Education/Training



  • Two years of postsecondary education in administrative support, business, or a related field.


Experience



  • Three years of related clerical/secretarial experience supporting office management, communication, and accounting work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $18.92 to USD $28.09. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
