Des Moines Register /desmoinesregister.com , part of the This journalist should have an interest in telling stories with video, from spot news to mini-documentaries and social media clips. They should also be versed in making still photos that tell stories from sports fields, Iowans' homes and political rallies. They will also play a key role in training members of our newsroom on video and will track and adopt evolving best practices. This person will join a team of four photojournalists in Iowa, including a photo editor who is a veteran journalist and spends more time making photos than holding meetings. The successful candidate must have a passion for telling stories visually, quickly when needed, in-depth when called for, and always with accuracy. We expect anyone who works with us to constantly improve their skills. We offer internal and company-wide training programs and study metrics, audience and search trends to deliver essential news and information.
