What to Expect
As a Senior Software Engineer on Tesla's Scheduling Team, you will build the central nervous system of Tesla's global operations. You will architect the platform responsible for managing appointments and resources across test drives, vehicle delivery, service centers, and residential solar/battery installations. You will tackle complex algorithmic challenges, such as solving the Traveling Salesman Problem for our Mobile Service fleet to optimize routing and efficiency. This role is essential for supporting Tesla's next era of Robotaxi and Optimus expansion, requiring you to rethink foundational platforms for unprecedented scale, solving hard resource allocation problems to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and scale the scheduling engine that manages global appointments for Service, Delivery, and Energy (Solar/Battery) operations
- Develop and implement complex optimization algorithms to solve routing challenges, such as dynamic routing for Mobile Service technicians (Traveling Salesman Problem) and resource capacity planning
- Re-think operational platforms from 0 to 1, identifying opportunities to incorporate AI Agents for automated scheduling decisions and routing optimization
- Collaborate directly with operational teams (Service, Delivery, Energy) to understand bottlenecks and ship code that improves efficiency
- Implement orchestration engines to handle complex, multi-step workflows that coordinate between digital systems and physical world operations
- Own end-to-end the complete lifecycle of scheduling applications, from algorithmic design to deployment and monitoring
- Improve the reliability and observability of critical platforms to ensure 99.99% availability for global field teams
- Apply software engineering best practices-including version control, testing, CI/CD, and containerization
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including designing and operating production systems at scale
- Proficiency in Go (Golang) or C# for building scalable, efficient backend systems
- Strong algorithmic background, particularly in optimization, graph algorithms, or constraint satisfaction (highly relevant for scheduling and routing systems)
- Experience architecting and maintaining distributed systems, with deep familiarity in container orchestration and service deployment
- Experience building AI agents or integrating intelligent systems into real-world applications (e.g., autonomous decision-making for routing)
- Demonstrated ability to set up robust observability systems from scratch, including distributed tracing and metrics pipelines
- Proven track record of building systems that bridge the digital and physical worlds, such as supply chain or booking platforms
