SCOPE: Develops, plans, and directs the clinical activities at multiple locations in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Advises the Executive Director and the Joint Practice Board to ensure clinical operations and practice are consistent with organizational objectives, the maintenance of quality patient care and financial profitability. Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirements. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct reports and Clinical Oversight

  • Oversees the clinical operations for all/assigned clinical disciplines
  • Sets annual performance goals for clinical disciplines in alignment with organizational objectives
  • Oversees the completion of performance evaluations including development of performance objectives and developmental goals each year
  • Ensure that all clinical equipment is operational and replaced/repaired if needed.
  • Conducts regular meetings with clinical staff
  • Oversee annual skills competency testing for clinical staff

Staffing retention and development

  • Leads staff retention and development programs to optimize staff performance, satisfaction and minimize turnover
  • Hires and coordinates training for all clinical personnel
  • Directs the development of initial orientation, standardized on-boarding and ongoing education programs for assigned clinical staff

Revenue Optimization

  • Develops annual operating goals and budget for the clinical department in support of the practice's business plan under the direction of the Executive Director and Controller
  • Controls the clinical departments operating costs within budget parameters
  • Assists in the development and preparation of short term and long-range plans and budgets based on organization goals and objectives, including identification/development of new clinical service lines
  • Maintains effective clinical staff coverage for the practice within budgetary guidelines
  • Directs the correct use of charge codes and facilitate education of all clinical staff in correct documentation per reimbursement guidelines
  • Directs the development/implementation of clinical components of regulatory and value-based care programs/contracts, facilitate education of staff on key program components to facilitate compliance

Ensure clinical operations and practice consistent with organizational objectives

  • Collaborates with practice management to provide leadership on operational projects such as site Quality Committees, Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) or other applicable accreditations, regulatory and value-based care program compliance, and other special projects as assigned
  • Responsible in facilitating, optimization/ implementation of Care Delivery best practices including, but not limited to assessing appropriate staffing levels, patient flow, current clinical practices/services, and policies & procedures
  • Collaborates with various US Oncology groups/committees to facilitate systematic solutions to patient care initiatives
  • Responsible in leading clinical initiatives in patient education and communication, evaluates standards of patient care and professional practice with special attention to cost effectiveness, comfort, safety, age-specific implications, and cultural diversity
  • Collaborate with providers on updates with clinical support teams

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, or another clinical field required
  • Advanced degree in nursing, healthcare, or business field (MSN, MBA or MHA) strongly preferred
  • Current state licensure for applicable clinical educational background required
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required

Business Experience:

  • Minimum seven to ten years direct clinical experience in an oncology practice or clinic setting strongly preferred
  • Minimum five to seven years prior management experience with increasing levels of responsibility strongly preferred
  • Experience in Oncology/Hematology office clinical management strongly preferred

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification strongly preferred.
  • Healthcare Quality Improvement certification (i.e. CPHQ, Six Sigma) a plus

ANNUAL PAY RANGE:

$125,000.00 - $175,000.00
