What You Can Expect Working in the Electrical Apprentice Intern Position

The Electrical Apprentice Intern works under the direction of the Electrical Lead and is responsible for the installation, repair, and testing of electrical systems during the production of blast-resistant, modular buildings and other industrial buildings. You may have the opportunity to work in other stages of the manufacturing process, as assigned. As an Electrical Apprentice Intern, you are integral in supporting RedGuard' s goal of delivering customers a quality product on time.

Responsibilities
  • Works with Licensed Electrician to learn to assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
  • Works with Licensed Electrician to learn to inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Works with Licensed Electrician to learn to read plans, layout and install electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications, blueprints, and local codes.
  • Works with Licensed Electrician to learn to inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Cross-trains and uses additional trade skills in multiple stages of the manufacturing process as assigned.
  • Follows established safety and security regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area and environment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Familiarity with basic electrical concepts (voltage, current, circuits).
  • Willingness to learn and follow standard electrical codes and safety procedures
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Basic computer skills.
Work Environment

  • Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
  • Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
  • Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Prolonged periods standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling.
  • Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • The worker is frequently required to operate machinery and/or power tools. Must be able to safely work with sharp tools or power equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
