Job Summary

The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager and project leadership team in the planning, coordination, and execution of heavy civil construction projects. This role assists with project scheduling, procurement, cost tracking, documentation, and field coordination to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company and client expectations. The ideal candidate is detailoriented, organized, proactive, and a strong communicator capable of supporting multiple workstreams in a fastpaced environment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Manager and Superintendent in daytoday project operations, including schedule coordination, cost management, and procurement activities.
  • Prepare, review, and track project submittals, ensuring compliance with project specifications and timely coordination with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Assist in monitoring work progress by tracking quantities, developing pay estimates, updating cash forecasts, and supporting project margin analysis.
  • Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture in accordance with company policies and goalzero principles.
  • Provide oversight and support to project administrative staff, including interns or project assistants.
  • Participate in onsite project activities, including work in remote Southeast Alaska communities as required.
  • Maintain flexibility to work weekends; weekly hours may reach or exceed 60 during peak project periods.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support project and company success.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong analytical, decisionmaking, and problemsolving skills.
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
  • Proficient in projectrelated software, including Primavera P6, MS Office, JDE, and HCSS Heavy Job; experience with Trimble Business Center and HCSS Heavy Bid is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and applicable regulations. Able to prepare written reports and present information to diverse groups including managers, clients, and public stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in the construction industry.
  • Experience with Alaska Department of Transportation or Western Federal Lands projects preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
  • MSHA and OSHA 10hour certifications required (or ability to obtain).
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and participate in a monthly random drug screen pool.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 20-50 lbs., frequently lift 10-25 lbs., and constantly lift up to 10 lbs.
