Job Summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a Technical Support Engineer - Controls to provide advanced post-sales technical support and training for onboard compressed air and system-level control solutions. Reporting to the Technical Support Manager, this role serves as a subject matter expert for PLC-based controls, communication protocols, and diagnostic software, enabling channel partners to resolve complex field issues efficiently while improving overall product reliability. The position often supports integration of industrial compressed air equipment controls within a centralized plant control scheme.

Responsibilities


  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and case ownership for complex control and system issues utilizing various communication methods.

  • Support field technicians through structured problem-solving and technical guidance, driving issues to resolution proactively.

  • Maintain and expand knowledge content (fault trees, bulletins, guides) in TechDirect and CC360.

  • Identify recurring issues and document them in the Quality & Reliability Management System (QRMS).

  • Design and deliver technical training for channel partners and internal teams.

  • Support new product launches through training content and early field feedback.

  • Partner with engineering and operations to perform root cause analysis and draft detailed technical reports.

  • Contribute to design-for-serviceability and feedback loops from field trials.




Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree or technical equivalent (e.g., N3).

  • 5+ years' experience in a technical work environment.

  • Self-motivated with strong decision-making skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others.

  • Effective planning and organizational skills, with timely follow-up.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).


  • Knowledge of industrial control systems, communication protocols, and troubleshooting techniques.

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements


  • Travel approximately 15% for escalated customer issues, including weekends.
