Shipping Bulk Unloader

Job Description

Job Title: Bulk Unloader

Department: Shipping

Reports to: Shipping Supervisor

Pay Rate: $29.93


SUMMARY

The purpose of the Bulk Unloader is to ensure all bulk materials are received from vendors. Then carried in a safe and efficient manner and ensure inventories are in place to operate the plant.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES:



  • Unload raw materials into main storage bins and mini bins
  • Operate track mobile in a safe, productive manner in accordance with all safety procedures
  • Spot rail cars to unloading area with track mobile
  • Knowledge of warehouse storage areas and location of all products including samples and accessory items
  • Operate lift truck in a safe, productive manner in accordance with all Owens Corning Procedures
  • Fill out daily checklist for forklift
  • Fill LP tanks as needed following all safety procedures
  • Maintain housekeeping in shipping, warehouse, and the yard including periodic cleaning of forklifts
  • Perform cycle counts as requested
  • Complete all required paperwork for carriers and return to shipping department
  • Monitor inventories and turn over in timely manner
  • Perform daily tasks following all guidelines as set in regarding to chocking and loading of trucks
  • Ensure the gate is closed and locked at the end of each shift
  • Daily PMs done in first hour of shift
  • Keep work area clean
  • Daily PMs done in first hour of shift
  • Ensure all freight is loaded or unloaded in compliance with safety and operating procedures accurately and efficiently
  • Ensure all finished material is counted and then placed in its proper location for storage
  • Notify your supervisor immediately of any accident, near miss or on-the-job injury when it occurs no matter how insignificant it may seem
  • Avoid any problems to scrap or seconds
  • Notify Supply Chain Leader or Team Leaders/Lead and Relief of equipment problems requiring work orders
  • Comply with all plant rules, safety regulations, and keep working area clean
  • Regular attendance on site and ability to rotate to varying shifts
  • All other duties as assigned or needed

SKILLS AND ABILTIES

The employee should hold the following abilities:



  • Good communication skills
  • Communicate in English
  • Understanding verbal and written instructions
  • Performing basic mathematical calculations
  • Thorough knowledge of all quality criteria
  • Equipment/mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Read prescribed measuring devices
  • Work well in a team or by oneself
  • Have accountability and ownership for actions
  • Able to think under pressure and make quick decisions
  • Ability to work with truck drivers in a positive and courteous manner
  • Able to safely operate a forklift


COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPETENCIES

The employee must be able to:



  • Must be able to operate a computer or other keyboard instrument
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, SAP, and pull paperwork for drivers


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:



  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Some manufacturing experience (preferred)


ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:



  • Ability and willingness to utilize OSHA approved hearing protection working in environments above 80 decibels
  • Able to stand and walk for prolonged periods
  • Climb and descend stairs for up to 12 hours continuously
  • Ability to bend, turn, and twist
  • Push, pull, or move 40lbs
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures
  • Able to climb off and on a forklift
