| Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Director of Policing Initiatives for the Miller Center on Policing and Community Resilience.
The mission of the Miller Center on Policing and Community Resilience (the Center) is to strengthen the safety, resilience, and standing of vulnerable communities by improving trust-based relationships with law enforcement, government agencies, and other at-risk communities. The Center operates in sensitive public safety environments, both domestically and internationally, deploying experts on the ground to support communities and institutions confronting complex security challenges. Through research, training, and operational engagement, the Center identifies, develops, and shares best practices in democratic policing, emphasizing accountability, dialogue, and community partnership. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Leads the Center's strategic efforts to advance evidence-based policing practices, foster community resilience, and improve public safety outcomes.
- Leads the Center's policing subject matter experts. Streamline and enhance the contributions of the expert team, drawing on knowledge in relevant areas.
- Implements, manages, and expands programs focused on law enforcement, campus and community police relations, bias prevention, officer wellness, technology integration in law enforcement, and other relevant and emerging priorities.
- Cultivates relationships with local, state, national, and international law enforcement agencies, academic partners, and community organizations to promote collaborative problem-solving.
- Represents the Center in public forums, conferences, and media engagements to share insights and efforts.
- Supports and leads fundraising efforts through donor engagement and grant writing for the Center's policing initiatives, ensuring that necessary resources are secured for impactful programs.
- Develops, implements and oversees research, policy development, training programs, and collaborative initiatives with law enforcement agencies, academic institutions, and community organizations globally.
- Participates in Institute-wide and/or cross-team projects.
