Position Description

Performs the administrative duties of planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating special development efforts. Responsibilities may include: cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual, foundation, and corporate support for the TTU/System; adherence to the prospect management system; and plans, coordinates and evaluates development goals. Work is performed under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative.

About the Department and/or College

The Texas Tech University Office of Advancement works with a broad array of university supporters to identify and match opportunities at the university with the interests of donors, ultimately facilitating impact in higher education that leads to endless possibilities. Our professional fundraising team members are responsible for building meaningful relationships with donors through consistent interaction and meaningful visits that move them through the donor cultivation cycle. Texas Tech University recently announced the public phase of its first comprehensive campaign, On & On. The campaign is focused on philanthropic impact in four areas: Transform Lives, Fuel Academic Excellence, Elevate Campus & Community, and Build Champions. The campaign has a goal of raising $1.2B in philanthropic support before August 31, 2028.

Major/Essential Functions

Focus: Manage a defined portfolio of corporate relationships, with a primary focus on aligning corporate giving with the university's strategic priorities. This position is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts from corporations, as well as identifying and advancing new corporate opportunities in collaboration with senior advancement staff and other portfolio managers, ensuring coordinated and strategic external engagement across the institution.

  • Qualify, manage, and build meaningful relationships with a portfolio of corporate entities and prospects whose philanthropic, research, and engagement interests align with the University's strategic vision.
  • Develop and support corporate proposals, concept papers, and funding requests; assist with solicitations and secure philanthropic support as outlined in annual plans and appropriate to the role.
  • Meet goals for key metrics related to corporate engagement such as substantive contacts, visits, portfolio movement, proposal activity, and partnership outcomes as established each fiscal year in annual plans.
  • Adhere to procedures and best practices regarding documenting corporate interactions, proposal development, stewardship, engagement activities, events, gift processing, and effective use of the advancement database.
  • Represent Texas Tech University, and the TTU Office of Advancement, at university, corporate, foundation, alumni, and community events in a professional manner.
  • Maintain a collaborative culture and serve as a strong colleague within the TTU Office of Advancement, with TTUS Institutional Advancement, within the assigned college or unit, and across the University to strengthen coordinated corporate engagement.
  • Assist the direct supervisor and college or unit leadership, as appropriate, in developing and executing an annual corporate focused annual plan that aligns with the strategic vision of Texas Tech University and the TTU Office of Advancement.
  • Manage a unit budget related to corporate and foundation engagement activities, including travel, events, and stewardship, and serve as a responsible steward of resources provided by the University, college, and donors.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • A good knowledge of all aspects of fundraising including major giving, planned giving, campaign management, annual giving, donor engagement, and strategic planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, writing and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional initiative and the ability to work with limited direct supervision.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus one (1) year development or sales experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience equal to five (5) years.

Preferred Qualifications

One year of experience in university or non-profit development/fundraising.

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.

Work Location Expectations: In an assigned on-campus office in Lubbock, Tx. Travel and overtime are required as needed to attend meetings, events, and donor visits.
