Job Overview:
The University of Minnesota's Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking an Accountant to join its Finance team within a matrix organization. This position is responsible for managing the OIT accounts payable process, preparing financial schedules and reports, and performing other accounting functions necessary to create and maintain accurate, up-to-date records and documentation. Ideal candidates will have a commitment to investing themselves in the work, creating strong professional relationships, and a desire to promote a respectful, inclusive and collaborative climate. This is a hybrid position, spending time in the office and remotely.

Job Duties:
Accounting - 65%
* Manage the accounts payable process for all OIT invoices including verification of invoices, paying on time, working with vendors to resolve discrepancies, working with Controllers Office to update supplier address and banking information
* Analyze, review and process billing transactions that includes data uploads, work order entries, billable and non-billable charges, customer requests
* Coordinate the fiscal management and monitoring of OIT's grants and ensure compliance of applicable policies and regulations.
* Pay MN state sales tax due each month on the MN Revenue site; prepare journal entries and reconcile the tax liability account

Payroll & Absence Management - 15%
* Review payroll and absence submissions for accuracy and communicate with employees to answer questions and ensure submissions are made and processed timely

Reporting - 10%
* Prepare ad-hoc financial schedules and reports to support management initiatives
* Prepare entry requests sent to FinOps Center for: journal entries, billing external customers, paying invoices
* Enter employee effort into Effort Reporting system for new hires

Unit Support - 5%
* Provide backup support for the OIT software chargeback process, including updating spreadsheets, reconciling data and processing journal entries
* Learn and support the monthly billing process to other departments for OIT's developer time, including using pivot tables and analyzing data

Other Duties as assigned - 5%

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* BA/BS degree in Accounting or related field OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience to equal four years
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
* Strong attention to detail
* Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
* Excellent communication and listening skills; ability to develop positive relationships internally and externally

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience working in an ERP system

Pay Range: $55,000 - $65,000 annually; depending on education/qualifications/experience
