Job Description:

Provides leadership and operational oversight for the maintenance, repair, and readiness of the university's residential facilities, ensuring safe, functional, and well-maintained living environments through effective supervision, coordination of skilled trades, and partnership with Residential Life.

JOB DUTIES

  • Provides leadership and operational oversight for maintenance and facilities operations across the University's residence halls and City Vista apartments. Responsibilities include supervision of maintenance staff; prioritization and assignment of work; coordination with Facilities Operations shops and vendors; and ensuring residential facilities are safe, functional, and ready to support student living.
  • Serves as the primary operational liaison and single point of contact for Residential Life professional staff. Coordinates regularly with Housing and Residential Life leadership; communicates planned work, outages, and facility conditions; supports move-in/move-out, summer operations, conferences, and student turnover; and provides occasional after-hours and emergency response to ensure emergent residential facility issues are assessed, coordinated, and resolved effectively.
  • Oversees preventive maintenance and work management for all residential facilities, including development of seasonal and annual maintenance plans, oversight of work order execution through the CMMS, review of service trends, identification of recurring issues, and recommendation of corrective or root-cause solutions. Ensures accurate asset data, equipment inventories, and maintenance records are maintained for residence halls and City Vista.
  • Directs operational planning and coordination for small projects and residential refresh initiatives, including preparation of labor and cost estimates, coordination with Facilities Operations and Capital Improvements on project sequencing and site readiness, and leadership of in-house work during summer turn and minor capital projects. Ensures high-quality, timely, and student-centered service delivery through effective communication with campus partners
  • Performs general building maintenance and repair work as needed to support residential operations, particularly during emergencies, high-impact service disruptions, staffing gaps, or time-sensitive situations. Duties may include carpentry, minor electrical and plumbing repairs, painting, hardware and fixture repair, and troubleshooting building systems. Exercises professional judgment in determining when to personally perform work versus assigning or escalating to staff, shops, or vendors.
  • Conducts regular building inspections and condition assessments for residential facilities; develops and manages corrective maintenance and repair requirements; and coordinates specialized work with Facilities Operations shops (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Grounds) and external vendors. Provides quality assurance and oversight of work performed to ensure compliance with standards and service expectations.

EDUCATION

Required:

High School Diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • 5 years of experience in construction and/or maintenance.

  • One year of supervisory experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Preferred:

Must possess working knowledge of general building maintenance disciplines, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical work, and HVAC, sufficient to assess conditions, direct repairs, and perform hands-on work as required.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Required:

Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and have a good driving history. May not have more than two moving violations in a three-year period.
