Position Summary:


The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, preparing journal entries, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data. This role involves preparing financial statements, reconciling balance sheet accounts, managing capitalized asset invoices, and submitting government surveys in accordance with GAAP standards. The position also includes performing financial analysis, supporting month-end close processes, and providing critical insights through internal and external financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, advanced proficiency in financial software, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to management and stakeholders.


Responsibilities:



  • Oversee the administration and reconciliation of the company credit card system, ensuring accurate tracking of expenses and adherence to company policies, while providing training and support to employees on proper usage and expense reporting procedures.


  • Manage the calculation, recording, and reconciliation of amortization schedules for intangible assets, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and timely reflection in financial statements.


  • Perform detailed financial analysis, identifying and reporting variances.


  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to management.


  • Maintain the general ledger by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accurate financial data.


  • Conduct comprehensive reconciliations of cash and balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis, ensuring accuracy and alignment with financial reporting standards, and provide training to division personnel on reconciliation processes and best practices.


  • Oversee the processing of invoices for capitalized assets while managing and optimizing the asset management system for accuracy and compliance.


  • Prepare and submit detailed government surveys and regulatory reports, ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements.


  • Coordinate and manage vehicle registrations, including the preparation and submission of complex tax filings related to asset management.


  • Lead and support the month-end close process, including the preparation and review of journal entries, while ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • 3+ years of experience as a Full-Cyle Accountant or in a similar role
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP's, pivot tables)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate reports promptly
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in using modern automated financial management systems
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal direction.

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
