We are looking for a MSFC Programs Senior Project Engineer (MTS Casual III- SystemsEngineering). This position, as part of CSG NASA Programs Divisionwillsupportthe Aerospace Program Office at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC)or NASA Kennedy Space Center (KSC) providing subject matterexpertiseto exploration systems.Theroles can includedesign,analysis,planning,andprovidingstrategic guidance for programs, projects, and initiatives frominceptionthrough completion. This Senior Project Engineerwill support projectssuch aslaunch vehicles, spacecraft, habitat systems, environmental control and life support systems, ground operations, mission operations, and science and technology.This position willapplyknowledge from area of specialization / professional focus, and its related engineering concepts, approaches, methods, tools, and technology.

This is a casual(flexiblepart time)position,and theselected candidate willbe requiredto workon-siteat an Aerospace or NASA facility in Huntsville, ALorMerrit Island, FL.

WhatYou'llBe Doing

  • Acts as senior technical authority, consultant, primary investigator, or team leader
  • May lead or organize interfaces between customers' and Aerospace technical and management staff
  • Coordinate large-scale technical efforts across program/project lines
  • Initiate studies designed to solve new technical problems and provide new technical solutions within area of expertise
  • Provide ongoing technical consultation and advice to management, customers, and contractors in area of specialization
  • Take initiative to inform management of perceived technical problems andrecommendcourses of action
  • Provide technical analyses, requirements, metrics, and overall systems engineering experience in workshops, control boards, and major milestone reviews.
  • Establish andexpand relationships with NASA, other government agencies, commercial primes, international partners, academic institutions, and emerging space entrants.
  • Partner with engineering and analysis teams to ensure compliance, technical quality, and mission relevance.
  • Identifyemerging technologies and best practices to strengthen future space systems
  • Work professionally with all levels of management, particularly senior customer officials

What You Need to be Successful -Senior Project Engineer (EngineeringProgram Management)

MinimumRequirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics,Scienceor related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in space systemsresearch, design, development, test, operations, and/orengineering
  • Strong understanding of NASA programsand the NASA organization.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across technical and executive audiences, organizingcomplex technical and programmatic materials and concepts in clear and logical manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in dynamic, multidisciplinary environments.
  • Experience with technical assessments and flight hardware
  • Ability to provide systems-based leadership in the areas of space, ground, and mission systems
  • Demonstrated ability toestablishand maintain effective working relationships with customers
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally to support customer needs, approximately 10%
  • Thisposition may require the ability to obtain andmaintaina security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship isrequiredto obtain a security clearance.

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Master's degree or PhD inScience,Engineering, Aerospace Management, or Business Administration.
  • Experience spanning multiple centers.
  • Hands-on experience in systems engineering or technical program managementwith flight hardware.
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in technology maturation and capability development for NASA Exploration missions
  • Experience with international partners.
  • Familiarity ofNASA missionexpertise, skills, tools, analytical capabilities, computingresourcesand laboratory facilities
  • Experience with currentNASAmanagement policies, practices, and systemsassociated withexploration systems.
