What to Expect
As a Production Control Systems Engineer at Tesla, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing our manufacturing operations by managing the Material Flow System (MFS) and driving system innovations. You'll collaborate cross-functionally to resolve complex issues, automate material flows, and deliver data-driven insights that enhance efficiency and support Tesla's mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. This role demands a strong grasp of supply chain dynamics, software systems, and agile problem-solving in a fast-paced production environment.
What You'll Do
- Configure and maintain Tesla's MFS to map physical production part flows, from receiving and warehousing through shipping and lineside deliveries, ensuring seamless integration with operations
- Implement and enhance TMS/MFS JIT/JIS modules to streamline supplier operations and improve overall supply chain performance
- Perform root cause analysis on software and system disruptions affecting daily operations, recommending and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime
- Design, develop, test, and release new system features to automate production parts material flow and inventory tracking, including QA processes
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Production Control organization and software development teams, facilitating communication on all systems-related initiatives
- Act as the subject matter expert on systems flows, developing training programs and best practices to empower teams across the organization
- Build and maintain impactful dashboards using data visualization tools to support operational decision-making and ensure smooth material flow for production and management
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Data Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of professional experience in manufacturing, with a focus on process, systems, or data engineering
- Hands-on experience with ERP and WMS systems (e.g., SAP or equivalent) in a production environment
- Proficiency in SQL for querying and analyzing system data
- Experience with at least one data visualization tool (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Ziplab)
- Experience in root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone) and dashboard development for real-time operations monitoring
- 1-2 years of cross-functional project leadership, demonstrating the ability to collaborate with diverse teams
