Overview

Element has an opportunity for an experienced multisite Quality Manager at our Element ANAHEIM, LAX testing laboratory. Reporting to the General Manager, you are an essential member of the management team and responsible for the overall quality performance.

This includes the Element Quality Management System (QMS), Prime approvals, improving First Time Right (FTR), maintaining and developing relationships with Aerospace Primes and customers and improving processes. The successful candidate will have a sound working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and requirements in relation to materials testing. Direct experience in the Aerospace industry and Nadcap for Materials testing is preferable.

In this role, you will have interaction with clients, accreditation bodies and Primes and will be responsible for advising operational colleagues of the importance of quality, accuracy and integrity in the provision of the inspection and testing services we provide.

You will be responsible for leading quality at a local level and will work closely with the Aerospace & Energy Business Unit Quality Managers to ensure that Element quality policies, processes and procedures are effectively implemented, maintained and improved. As a quality leader within Element, you will be capable of driving a culture of quality, continuous improvement and working closely with your operational colleagues and the wider Element quality community.

Salary: $100,000 - $130,000/yr DOE



Responsibilities

* Implementation, maintenance and scope extensions of all accreditations such as ISO/IEC 17025, Prime approvals and any other regulatory requirements
* Implement and maintain the QMS, ensuring the necessary controls are in place to govern the inspection and testing undertaken
* Effectively manage the day-to-day implementation of the QMS and support colleagues in its implementation
* Effectively time-manage and prioritize activities to meet the needs of the business, colleagues and our customers
* Embed and drive a culture of quality assurance and quality improvement in all parts of the laboratory operations
* Ensure the continued fulfillment of customer expectations through the implementation and management of the QMS, e.g. through contact review, reporting, communication with customers or accreditation bodies
* Ensure that all accreditations are maintained and extended, as agreed with operational management and the Aerospace & Energy Quality Manager, to service our customers and retain our competitive position as a leader in the materials testing industry
* Lead and manage accreditation body and other regulatory agency assessments as required
* Ensure robust problem-solving activities occur that effectively address non-conformances ensuring they are responded to in accordance with Elements established quality requirements and defined timelines, format and content required by e.g. customers, assessment bodies, etc.
* Establish and implement appropriate QA/QC programs to reduce the cost of poor quality and improve compliance to regulations, standardize processes and procedures that achieve company objectives, regulatory and customer requirements
* Ensure training in and full implementation of the Intelex electronic quality management system (eQMS) is effective for all lab colleagues
* Provide onboarding quality training to colleagues and refresher training to existing colleagues
* Implement and maintain all time-bound systems e.g. approvals, calibration, supplier management, method audits, quality system and process audits, proficiency testing, KPI reporting, etc. as required within Element's quality requirements on-time with the established schedule(s) and ensure non-conformances are resolved robustly, on-time
* Maintain good working relationships with cross-functions and with the wider quality community



Skills / Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in a scientific or engineering discipline, with ideally 5 years' experience in materials testing or a related environment (e.g. manufacturing)
* Experience working in an ISO / IEC 17025 and Nadcap environment is preferred
* Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability prioritize activities
* Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)
* Experience in participating in quality investigations, leading root cause analysis process, developing corrective action plans, and ensuring the effectiveness of actions implemented
* Ability to stay current with changes in the quality landscape both internally and industry driven and maintain personal professional development
* Ability to identify quality and technical problems and work with colleagues to determine effective and sustainable solutions and support implementation
* Ability to effectively collaborate and lead cross-functional teams that achieve requirements/goals
