Overview/Position Summary:

Provides a full range of technical services for infrastructure technologies (Servers, SAN) including setup, configuration, implementation, security, system traffic analysis, capacity planning, and daily operations. Manages small projects and responds to system issues. Primary responsibility will be the enterprise backup administrator.

Backup Responsibilities:

Administer Veeam and Commvault Enterprise Backup platforms.

Manages backup schedules to ensure regular and timely data protection.

Monitors backup jobs for successful completion and addresses any anomalies.

Verifies the integrity of backup data to ensure reliability during restoration.

Restores data as needed in response to system failures or user requests.

Troubleshoots backup failures and implements corrective actions.

Documents backup procedures and maintains logs for audit and compliance purposes.

Collaborate with IT teams to ensure backup solutions align with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.


Required skills & experience:

Hands on administration of enterprise backup and recovery solutions, specifically Commvault and/or Veeam Backup & Replication in production environments

Strong understanding of backup methodologies (full, incremental, synthetic full), retention policies, and restore operations (file level, application level, VM level)

Experience performing backup monitoring, troubleshooting failed jobs, and executing data restores under SLA pressure

Administration experience in virtualized environments, most commonly VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper V

Working knowledge of Windows Server environments and, in many roles, Linux systems used for repositories or hardened backup targets

Familiarity with storage technologies including SAN/NAS, disk based repositories, and capacity planning for backup growth

Experience supporting disaster recovery objectives, including RTO/RPO alignment, backup verification, and restore testing

Ability to maintain backup documentation, operational runbooks, and compliance or audit reporting

Exposure to security practices such as patching backup servers, access control, and responding to vulnerability findings related to backup infrastructure

3+ years of experience in backup administration or infrastructure support roles

Required Qualifications:

1. Master's degree and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization; or

2. Bachelor's degree and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience as a Network Technician at; or

3. Bachelor's degree and the equivalent of four (4) of full-time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization; or

4. Associates degree and the equivalent of six (6) years of full time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization; or

5. High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of eight (8) years of full time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization.

NOTE:

Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university


Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced experience with Commvault Enterprise environments, including policy design, storage configuration, and reporting

Advanced Veeam capabilities such as scale out repositories, replication, and enterprise monitoring tools

Commvault Certified Professional (CCP) or equivalent Commvault training credentials

Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) or higher level Veeam certifications

Complementary infrastructure certifications (VMware, Microsoft, or storage focused) are often listed as desirable

Experience backing up databases and applications such as SQL Server or Oracle using native or integrated agents

Scripting or automation skills (commonly PowerShell or shell scripting) to support reporting, maintenance, or operational efficiency

Exposure to hybrid or cloud integrated backup architectures, especially where backup data is tiered to object storage

Strong problem solving and analytical skills for root cause analysis of backup failures and performance issues

Ability to communicate clearly with infrastructure, application, security, and audit teams during incidents or compliance reviews
