Job Title: Workforce Development Coordinator/Apprenticeship Program Coordinator

Duration: 24+ Months (contract)

Location: Wilmington, DE 19802

Shifts: Mon - Fri 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Pay Rate: $22.00/hr. on W2 without benefits

Job Description:

  • An individual will be responsible for overseeing development and monitoring of Registered Apprenticeship programing under the Division of Employment and Training.
  • They are expected to perform with general direction from a manager and are involved in overseeing the promoting, coordinating, and monitoring of Registered Apprentices in the private and public sectors.
  • There is also contact with employees and educational institutions to coordinate strategies to meet training needs.
  • Promoting the role of apprenticeship and other structured training programs to both the private and public sectors is a significant aspect of this class.


Role & Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a point of contact for Registered Apprenticeship Programs.
  • Plans, organizes and monitors projects as assigned.
  • Promotes the role of apprenticeship and other industrial training programs in the private and public sector by appearing before employers, labor and community groups, and organizations.
  • Reviews and evaluates the work of Program Contacts and is responsible for establishing, monitoring and evaluating apprenticeships while providing administrative guidance.
  • Participates in enforcing regulations, standards, laws, programs and policies.
  • Provides consultative services on such matters as they pertain to Registered Apprenticeship.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • The intent of the listed knowledge, skills and abilities is to give a general indication of the core subject matter the position.
  • Knowledge of the principles of Project Management
  • Knowledge of the principles and applications of labor practices and industrial relations.
  • Skill in designing and implementing effective training programs.
  • Skill in preparing reports, position papers, surveys; skill in documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Skill in effective oral and written communication.
  • Ability to interpret legislation and regulations governing apprenticeship and on-the-job training programs.
  • Ability to analyze data and make sound recommendations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public and private sector representatives, union officials and trainees.


Preferred Experience:

Applicants are preferred to have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  • Education or experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating employment and training or Human Resource programs.
  • Education or experience in interpreting employment and training program laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Education or experience in developing policies or procedures.
