Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Health Technician Ill for Rutgers Health Services.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Facilitates patient care at counseling centers providing reception services, making appointments, answering and directing telephone calls, chart organization and reports, daily schedules, insurance verification and general front office operations.
  • Helps coordinate student care quickly and efficiently.
  • Generates comprehensive computerized medical records and coordinates confidential medical reports.
  • Organizes, maintains, and coordinates a permanent medical filing system of all behavioral health records of students and maintains a database of consultation information as used by the Counseling Center.
  • Assists updating and verifying medical insurance.
  • Supporting administratively with data collection and assisting with departmental with tracking by filling in spreadsheets.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience
  • High school/vocational school education or equivalent and three (3) years of clerical experience in a health care services or similar service environment.
Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated data entry/word-processing/typing skills.
  • Working knowledge and the ability to use basic spreadsheet, word-processing, database, and/or email software.
  • Experience using a scanner and medical management system, and reading and completing health forms and medical documents.
  • Effective client service skills. Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality; be courteous and tactful under stress; and process cash, credit card, check payments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant Certificate.
  • Interest and/or experience in work within the mental healthcare, behavioral healthcare field.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks at one time (greet student, answer telephone, enter data into computer).
  • Ability to read health history forms and other medical documents.
  • Ability to deal with many students each day.
  • Ability to communicate with insurance companies and verify insurance.
  • Ability to enter data into computer, read data in it, scan documents and manage email.
  • Ability to use or learn to use Qualtrics XM.
  • Ability to use or learn to use Canva.

Equipment Utilized

  • Medicat - electronic health records software; electronic scanning and copiers.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.
