Position Summary

The House Monitor for the Booth Home Senior Bridge Housing program provides general oversight of residents and rooms, assists with check-ins and discharges, and evaluates and reports on residents' conditions to the Program Coordinator. The House Monitor is also responsible for assisting in the completion of documentation and tracking residents' progress upon discharge and follow-ups. In addition, House Monitors plan and engage residents in appropriate activities that encourage positive interaction, community building, and personal growth. The Booth Home Senior Bridge Housing program houses 15 male and female clients with mental health diagnoses. This position requires candidates to be available to work at least one morning, swing, and graveyard shift per week, as scheduled.

Essential Functions

Resident Care and Support



  • Provide professional, compassionate, and safe care to all residents.
  • Respond to residents' needs promptly, courteously, and respectfully.
  • Perform all duties in a manner that preserves the dignity, self-worth, and confidentiality of residents and staff.
  • Explain program rules, expectations, and procedures to residents and ensure adherence in a respectful manner.
  • Plan and participate in appropriate activities with residents to encourage positive interaction, personal growth, and a healthy community environment.


Safety, Security, and Monitoring



  • Monitor residents and the facility to ensure a safe, quiet, and supportive living environment.
  • Conduct periodic rounds of the facility.
  • Maintain security within and around the building.
  • Ensure common areas and hallways are free from obstructions and health or safety hazards.
  • Coordinate with other staff to ensure all safety and security measures are followed.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Document and report unusual occurrences, incidents, and injuries according to policy.


Documentation and Administrative Duties



  • Complete all required intake forms and establish individual resident files for new intakes.
  • Assist the Case Manager with data entry and documentation, including intake records, resident files, and discharge documentation
  • Complete daily logs, obtain required signatures, and provide thorough end-of-shift reports to the oncoming shift and Case Manager.
  • Assist the Case Manager with documentation and tracking of residents upon discharge.
  • Answer and direct incoming calls in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Follow all Booth Home Senior Bridge Housing and The Salvation Army policies and procedures.


Housekeeping and Meal Service



  • Assist with meal service as needed, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Ensure clean-up is completed after meal service and comply with all food service and health and safety codes.
  • Perform daily cleaning of common areas, including kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Assist with room turnovers, house laundry, and donation processing as needed.


Other Duties



  • Ability to work an irregular schedule with varying hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or management personnel.


Working Conditions

Office/field environments; travel from site to site; exposure to computer screens and inclement weather conditions; may work or inspect in confined spaces; public contact. Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. This Position requires employee to be Vaccinated from COVID-19 or have a religious or medical approved exemption.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Background check required.
  • High School Diploma or GED Required, A.A. or B.A. /B.S. highly preferred.
  • Maintain valid CPR/First Aid & Food Handler Certification


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities



  • Knowledge and sensitivity regarding issues of homelessness, mental health and chronic illness
  • Ability to obtain annual TB test and complete other required Salvation Army trainings (decision driving, PTM, etc.)
  • Ability, both visual and auditory, to identify safety hazards and monitor guest and staff behavior and enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures
  • Must possess flexibility, effective leadership, conflict resolution, and communication skills.

Qualifications
Experience
Maintain valid CPR/First Aid & Food Handler Certification (required)
High School Diploma or GED Required, A.A. or B.A. /B.S. highly preferred. (preferred)
