***Full- Time 40 Hours Per Week, Pay Range: $18.00- $19.00 Per Hour Based on Experience

This schedule does require teaching Youth Sunday School***

Summary/Primary Purpose: The Youth Ministries Manager is responsible to Develop youth (0-29yrs) in their faith, character and person through the corps programs and ministries. Increase local corps programs and outreach to youth. Provide oversight of multiple youth programs by providing program leadership and/or providing guidance, support and basic training to active youth leaders within the corps.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • This role will be required to attend Sunday worship activities, including teaching a youth Sunday School class to further the mission of The Salvation Army through ministry and spiritual development of youth (029yrs).
  • Provide Christian example and leadership to youth in order to encourage their spiritual development.
  • This position serves as an advisor and resource for all existing and future youth leaders and programs; only taking on leadership where needed.
  • The role is responsible to oversee the After-School Program.
  • Responsible find new ways to engage youth in Salvation Army distinctive and/or sponsored programs with the result to get youth active in the corps and enrolled as members of The Salvation Army.
  • Encourage, train, and engage in evangelism in ways relevant to youth and meet regularly with a mentor and/or small group for personal fellowship, spiritual formation and accountability.
  • Coordinate, execute and participate in weekly Salvation Army youth programs such as youth night, SA Gaming, annual Vacation Bible School and annual Summer Day Camp ministry.
  • This role is required to recruit, train and retain volunteers for weekly youth programming as well as special events such as Vacation Bible School
  • Plan and assist with holiday programming such as children's musicals and nursing home visitations and community outreach programs to engage the neighborhood families
  • Participate in the Christmas fundraising efforts which includes kettles, angel tree, and food/toy distribution days. Attend one youth summer camp a year at Western Plains Camp in South Sioux City, NE
  • The responsibilities of this role may be conducted in the corps facility, but can also be held at community centers, community rooms, schools, etc.
  • This role will provide youth transportation for weekly programming and other events.
  • Driving is an essential function of the position.
  • And attendance at events outside of normal working hours to include weekends may be required as directed.
  • All other duties as assigned.



Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise After School employees, Day Camp staff and volunteers.

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or GED, Associates Degree or 5 years related experience in youth programming and leadership.

  • Must be able to effectively and responsively relate to diverse populations with dignity, respect, and a non-judgmental approach
  • Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, attention to detail and filing.
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with clients, co-workers and supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to, such actions as: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients; respect of others' property and person; and professional and appropriate communication to and about clients, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.



Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

Physical requirements include lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally, stand, walk, and climb stairs, as well as the ability to drive to local and divisional events.

Working Conditions: The work environment involves a quiet to moderate noise level of an office setting and indoor or outdoor events.
