Summary:

Performs advanced patient care procedures (such as, initiation of intravenous therapy, splinting/casting, suturing, and simple patient teaching) under the director of a licensed Nurse or Provider and/or performs advanced support-procedures for the operation of the Emergency Department. Coordinates equipment and/or supply systems. Performs sterile processing procedures.

Responsibilities:

As a Nurse Tech in the Emergency Department you will perform advanced clinical tasks under the direction of a licensed nurse or provider. This role assists with patient care, procedures, monitoring, and documentation while also maintaining equipment, supplies, and unit readiness. The ED Nurse Tech plays a key role in ensuring efficient department operations and highquality patient care.

  • Monitor patients, collect vital signs, assist with daily care, and document findings accurately.
  • Perform clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, IV insertion/removal (nonmedicated), specimen collection, wound care, splinting, and bedside testing under provider or RN direction.
  • Assist providers and nurses during exams, sterile procedures, and emergency interventions.
  • Maintain equipment, stock supplies, ensure unit cleanliness, and support sterile processing needs.
  • Transport patients, specimens, and equipment while supporting clerical tasks like answering phones and assembling charts.

Qualifications:

  • High school or equivalent plus trade or vocational school in medical/surgical patient care.
  • 6 months patient care experience required. One to three years experience preferred.
  • Receives on-the-job training and competency verification to perform primary functions.
  • Microsoft Office Skills
  • Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT)
